Our annual conference brings the SureCare network together

Change Text Size A A A

On Friday 3rd March, SureCare’s head office team spread our arms wide open to welcome all franchisees from across the country for our annual conference.

The event promised a day full of news, workshops and networking between all members of the SureCare family and a handful of special guests, all taking place at the Hilton Double Tree in Chester.

We hold this conference every year, giving franchisees from all over the country to meet up, forge friendships and have a chat about their own experiences within the care industry. From common struggles and challenges within our sector to advice on finding new opportunities, franchise owners can come together to discuss anything and everything about their day-to-day work.

This year’s agenda

Following on from a bumper year of brand new franchisees, the 2017 conference saw our long-standing franchisees meet with some of our fresher faces to impart their wisdom. Our annual meetings have also grown year on year, with our largest attendance at this year’s event sharing stories, ideas and strategies among one another.

The day kicked off with an official welcome from SureCare’s Franchisor and Managing Director, Gary Farrer. After a brief introduction highlighting the year’s successes and a look ahead at the year to come, we were all treated to various talks and seminars bringing everyone up to date on Care Certificates, SureCare Recruitment and even some handy advice for franchisees on managing revenue and cash flow.

After a light lunch with a lot of mingling, the afternoon brought franchisees together with Compliance Workshops, allowing everyone to share ideas and collaborate on how to improve the CQC ratings of not just their individual franchises, but also of SureCare as a whole. By sharing advice and experiences with each other, we’re confident that good preparation and sticking to best practices will yield better results in future CQC inspections.

Before rounding off the afternoon, we were treated to a short presentation from the Barnet & Brent team, Shaun and Farah, on their first 12 months in business. The franchise has seen many ups and downs, facing many issues that longer-standing franchisees have been all too familiar with! We’re hopeful that after an eventful first year, the new Barnet & Brent franchise will go from strength to strength by the time we see them next year!

An entertaining evening

We didn’t just pack up and send everyone home by the time 4:30pm rolled around, though… we still had a whole evening of events lined up at the same venue. This kicked off with an elegant reception with pre-dinner drinks, before sitting down to a gala dinner and Awards Ceremony, honouring and recognising franchisees and employees for their achievements right across the SureCare network.

The rest of the night gave everyone a chance to let their hair down and dance the night away. With the conference room transformed into a dance-floor, a live band provided the evening’s entertainment until late.

All in all, we’re glad to have been able to celebrate the ongoing successes of SureCare after such a phenomenal year, and what’s more, we’ve celebrated with all of our friends and colleagues from across the country.

Testimonials

"I started off as a carer and then worked as a manager in the office of a care franchise, so I chose a franchise when I decided to start my own business. Care is heavily regulated and when I started the regulations were in flux, so I wanted the support of a franchisor. I’ve now got about 100 service users and have built up a team of 40 staff. I need much less franchisor support now, but it’s always there if needed and I talk regularly with other franchisees. We swap tips, advice and ideas so the franchise comes with a useful network."

Anne Anyon, Preston & South Ribble

"We chose a franchise because it gives support on time-consuming issues such as policy, procedures and legislation, so it left us free to provide care. When we started out eight years ago, we were the sole carers, as well as looking after the marketing the business. Today we have 60 staff providing care for more than 100 children and older people."
